The project
FamiZeit is a family portal that helps parents find things to do with their children, and the app brings it to iPhone and iPad. Parents browse days out, kid-friendly attractions, events and playgrounds by category, or use the near-me search to see what is close to where they are. Each place has ratings, distance, contact details, directions and a call button. Favourites lists help plan the next outing, and any place can be shared with friends and family. Articles add seasonal ideas such as Easter crafts. We built the apps in Flutter with a React admin and a Node.js and MySQL backend.
The challenge
- Parents looking for weekend or holiday plans had to search many websites for kid-friendly places.
- Generic maps did not show whether a place suited children or what events were on.
- Families had no easy way to keep a list of ideas or pass them on to others.
What we built
- Categories such as food and drink, leisure parks, indoor, birthdays, nature, sport, animals and swimming.
- A near-me search based on the user's location.
- Place pages with ratings, distance, contact details, directions and a call button.
- Favourites lists and a share button on every place.
- Editorial articles with seasonal family ideas, on both iPhone and iPad.
