The project
A peer-to-peer car rental marketplace. Renters browse cars near them with photos, prices and availability, pick dates on a calendar, book and pay in the app, chat with the host in real time and extend a trip if plans change. Hosts list their vehicle with a daily price and pickup location, approve or decline requests, control availability and get paid out. Identity verification for both sides and condition photos at pickup and return build trust. The public website, built in Next.js, lets visitors browse and compare cars by category.
The challenge
- Renting a car meant going through a rental desk, even when nearby owners had cars sitting parked.
- Car owners had no simple, trusted way to earn from their vehicle.
- Renting from a stranger raised concerns about identity, vehicle condition and damage.
What we built
- A renter flow to browse nearby cars, book by date, pay securely and chat with the host.
- A host flow to list a vehicle, manage availability, handle requests and track earnings.
- Identity (KYC) verification for renters and hosts.
- Condition photos at pickup and return, with damage reporting.
- A Next.js website to browse and compare cars by category.
