The project
Appricot Networking is a service exchange app for private and business users. Instead of paying for a job, a user offers a service in return: a tiler helps a tutor, a hairdresser swaps with an IT specialist. Users swipe through profiles in a matching mode, search services by hashtag, filter by distance and skills, and talk by text, voice or video once they match. Ratings after each exchange help others choose. Business accounts let companies present their services to nearby users. We built the iOS and Android apps in Flutter, with a Laravel backend and a React website.
The challenge
- Small projects stall when people need a skill they cannot afford to pay for.
- People with skills to offer had no simple way to find someone who needs them and can offer something back.
- Finding the right person nearby, and knowing whether to trust them, took time.
What we built
- A matching mode where users swipe right on profiles whose services meet their needs.
- Hashtag search and filters for distance, services and skills.
- Real-time chat with voice and video calls and media sharing.
- Ratings and reviews after each completed exchange.
- Private and business accounts, with a free basic version and Pro and Pro Plus packages.
