The project
Vybing is a dating app for Android and iOS that matches people on what they think, not only on how they look. Each user answers a set of questions, and the app suggests matches based on those answers. When two people match, a chat opens so they can start talking. The app is free to use and carries in-app ads, placed the way Tinder shows them. We built the mobile apps in Flutter, with a React admin panel and a Node.js and MySQL backend that stores answers, matches and conversations.
The challenge
- Photo-first dating apps match people with little sense of whether they share the same outlook.
- Users wanted to talk only with people they had already matched with.
What we built
- A question flow whose answers drive the matching.
- Chat that opens only after two users match.
- In-app advertising to support a free app, managed alongside users from an admin panel.
Key features
Question-based matching
Matches come from how users answer the app's questions.
Match-only chat
Two users can message each other once they have matched.
Ad-supported model
In-app ads, placed the way Tinder shows them, keep the app free to use.
Android and iOS
Native-feeling apps for both platforms from one Flutter codebase.
