The project
Vegpal is a dating app made for vegans and vegetarians who want meaningful connections with people who share their values. Members create profiles, search and filter for other plant-based people, match and chat, whether the right person lives nearby or on the other side of the world. Beyond dating, Vegpal is a plant-powered community and support network where members find friends and create and attend live events. We built the iOS and Android apps in Flutter, with a React, Node.js and MongoDB platform behind them.
The challenge
- On mainstream dating apps, diet and lifestyle are a footnote, and vegans spend time on matches that do not share their values.
- Vegans in smaller towns have few local people to meet.
- Plant-based people looking for friends and community, not only dates, had no shared space.
