The project
Sister's Getaway is a social platform for women who travel. On the iOS and Android apps, members create a profile, join groups, post pictures and videos, sign up for events and chat with other travelers. The admin team creates events, approves posts before they go live and sends notifications to chosen groups of members. Event times convert to each member's local time, and privacy settings let members decide what others see. We built the mobile apps in Flutter, with a React admin panel and a Laravel backend.
The challenge
- Women travelers wanted a safe place to meet and share experiences with other women who travel.
- General social networks mixed travel plans with everything else and offered little moderation.
- Members in different time zones were confused by event times.
What we built
- Profiles, groups, photo and video posts and chat in a travel community for women.
- Admin approval for posts, so content is checked before members see it.
- Events created by admins, with times shown in each member's local time zone.
- Targeted notifications to reach specific groups of members.
- Privacy settings so members control their profile and posts.
