The project
My Vision Check is a patient eye health platform created with retina specialists. It takes patients from symptoms to clarity to action: personalized onboarding, a guided digital eye test and Amsler grid test at home, a record of results to spot changes over time, and doctor referrals when something needs attention. A Retina AI Helper answers eye health questions, a learning hub explains conditions and treatments, and a community and curated eye health store support patients between visits. We built the responsive web app in React with a MySQL backend and an admin for content, followed by an Android app.
The challenge
- Patients could only check their vision at a clinic, so gradual changes went unnoticed between appointments.
- Test scores alone did not tell patients what their results meant or what to do next.
- Reliable, patient-friendly eye health information was hard to find.
What we built
- Guided visual acuity and Amsler grid tests patients run from home, with step-by-step setup instructions.
- A results history that tracks vision changes over time.
- Doctor referral pathways when results call for professional care.
- A Retina AI Helper, a learning hub and a community for ongoing support.
- A content admin so the clinical team can edit and expand articles and resources.
