The project
A mobile finance app for people who borrow from local money lenders. Borrowers enter the amount they need and choose from a curated list of trusted lenders or sponsors, with no paperwork. Once a loan is active, the app shows the outstanding balance, the repayment schedule and the interest rate, and keeps a history of every loan taken, with the lender, the amount and the payment status. A sponsor option lets a borrower raise their limit. We built the app in Flutter, with a React admin panel and a Node.js and MySQL back end.
The challenge
- Borrowing from local money lenders relied on paperwork and personal contact, with little visibility for the borrower.
- Borrowers struggled to keep track of balances, repayment dates and interest across several loans.
- There was no clear record of past loans, lenders and payment status.
What we built
- A simple loan application flow where users enter an amount and pick a lender or sponsor from a curated list.
- A loan dashboard showing outstanding balances, repayment schedules and interest rates.
- A full loan history with lender names, amounts borrowed and payment status.
- A sponsor feature that helps borrowers qualify for a higher limit.
- An admin panel and back end to manage lenders, applications and loan records.
