The project
The Lakewood Luach is a web platform for Jewish individuals and families in Lakewood, New Jersey and nearby communities. Visitors search by location to see daily prayer times (zmanim), find shuls, kosher-certified eateries and local businesses in separate directories, and follow an interactive Hebrew calendar with Jewish holidays, the weekly Parsha and candle lighting times. A map shows listings around the visitor, and community updates, reviews and a contact form round out the site. We built it with Next.js and MySQL.
The challenge
- Zmanim, shul details and kosher dining information sat on separate sites, flyers and group chats.
- Prayer and candle lighting times depend on location, so one fixed list did not serve everyone.
- Newcomers and visitors had no single directory of the community's shuls and businesses.
What we built
- Location search that returns zmanim and listings for where the user is.
- Directories for shuls, businesses and kosher eateries, shown on a map.
- An interactive Hebrew calendar with holidays, Parsha readings and candle lighting times.
- Community updates, reviews and a contact form.
