The project
Presence is an iOS app that gives church musicians ambient worship drone pads at the press of a button. It offers five presets, each in all 12 keys, so a player can match the song and the moment, from worship and prayer to altar calls and transitions between songs. Pads latch and keep playing, change smoothly when the musician switches key, and can run in the background. The app was created by a church musician and is built to be quick to use in the middle of a service, with no extra equipment to set up.
The challenge
- Church musicians wanted a sustained pad under prayer and transitions without bringing extra keyboards or gear.
- Switching keys between songs had to sound smooth, not cut off abruptly.
- During a service there is no time for a complicated interface.
What we built
- A one-screen pad grid with a button for each of the 12 keys and a preset selector above it.
- Five presets with different tones and textures, such as King Solomon and Multi Atmospheres.
- Smooth transitions, background playback, master volume and stereo pan in settings.
- A one-time Full Access purchase that opens all presets and keys.
