The project
Junkmates is a marketplace for junk removal and dumpster rentals where collectors bid for the job. A customer snaps photos, publishes a free listing and receives quotes from nearby vetted, licensed waste collectors. They compare prices and reviews, choose a collector, message them securely on the platform and pay only after the junk is gone. Junkmates covers all types of junk removal. We built the platform in Flutter as a progressive web app, hosted on AWS.
The challenge
- Getting a junk removal price meant calling several companies and describing the load each time.
- Customers had no easy way to check whether a collector was licensed or well reviewed.
- Paying upfront left customers exposed if the job was not finished.
What we built
- Free listings with photos that customers publish in a few steps.
- Bidding that sends each job to nearby vetted, licensed collectors and returns their quotes.
- Prices and customer reviews side by side, so the customer picks the best collector.
- Secure messaging on the platform and payment after removal.
