The project
High Step Racing is a horse racing stable, and this mobile app is how its owners, trainers and admins manage the horses. Each horse has a profile with its details, trainer, training progress, race history and medical care, and every user sees the information that fits their role. Race entries record the location, race number and finish, with links to charts and replays. Updates reach everyone in real time through notifications. We built the app in Flutter and the web side in React and Next.js, on a Node.js backend.
The challenge
- Horse details, training notes, race results and vet records were spread across people and paper.
- Owners, trainers and admins need different information, and each wanted it without asking someone else.
- Owners wanted to follow a horse's progress without waiting for a call from the trainer.
What we built
- A horse list for each trainer or owner with the key details of every horse at a glance.
- Horse profiles covering training progress, race participation and medical care.
- A racing logbook with location, race number, finish, chart and replay links for each entry.
- Role-based access for owners, trainers and admins.
- Real-time notifications when a horse's record changes.
