The project
Driving Theory Test UK: CAR is a revision app for learners preparing for the UK car theory test. It brings practice questions in the DVSA format, Highway Code topics, road signs, hazard perception guidance and timed mock sessions into one app, and tracks scores so learners can see where they are improving. Questions are grouped into 17 levels, each answer comes with an explanation, and wrong answers can be reviewed. We built and published the app on Google Play, with a Premium upgrade that removes ads.
The challenge
- Learners revising from books and websites had no structured path through the theory syllabus.
- It was hard to tell which topics needed more work before booking the real test.
- Practising without explanations meant repeating the same mistakes.
What we built
- DVSA-style multiple-choice questions grouped into 17 practice levels, with 50 questions per level.
- Revision sections for the Highway Code, road signs and hazard perception.
- Mock practice sessions with instant results, score tracking and unlimited retakes.
- A review of incorrect answers with explanations after each session.
