The project
Nursing Focus is a study app for nursing students preparing for nursing school exams and the Next Generation NCLEX-RN. Content is organized by knowledge area, including nursing fundamentals, pharmacology, medical-surgical and OB maternity, so students can study only what they need. The app combines practice quizzes with explanations, flashcards, illustrated study notes, mock tests in the real exam format and a study planner. We built the iOS and Android apps in Flutter on Firebase, with a React admin, and a subscription that opens the full content.
The challenge
- Nursing students juggle books, notes and question banks while preparing for one of the hardest licensing exams.
- Students needed to practice in the format of the real NCLEX, not only read about it.
- Studying alone made it hard to stay on schedule and motivated.
What we built
- Quizzes, flashcards and study notes grouped by knowledge area and by prep set.
- Mock tests that simulate the exam format, with a score and a full question review at the end.
- Randomized questions and answers each time a practice test restarts.
- A study planner and a Create Plan option on every set, plus student profiles to connect with peers.
- Monthly, six-month and yearly subscriptions through the app stores.
