The project
UPchat is a real-time messaging app for Android and iOS with a web-based admin panel. Users chat one to one, and create or join temporary groups that expire after 24 hours, which suits short-lived plans and conversations. Device contact sync shows which contacts are already on the app. Users can report groups, receive notifications and manage their accounts, while admins moderate users and groups from the panel. We built the apps in Flutter on Firebase, with the admin panel in React and Laravel.
The challenge
- Group chats for one-off plans linger long after they are needed.
- Finding friends on a new messaging app is slow without contact matching.
- Without reporting and moderation tools, abusive groups are hard to deal with.
What we built
- Flutter apps on Firebase for real-time one-to-one and group messaging.
- Temporary groups that expire automatically after 24 hours.
- Contact synchronisation to connect users with people they already know.
- Group reporting, notifications and a React and Laravel admin panel for moderation.
