The project
Orbit is a social networking app built in Dubai that helps people meet in real life through shared interests. A user creates an Orbit by choosing an activity, interest or event and dropping a pin where it will happen. Others who share that interest find it on the map and request to join, and the creator approves who comes. People use it to make friends, network with professionals and entrepreneurs, or meet potential partners. We built the iOS and Android apps in Flutter.
The challenge
- Dubai is full of people from different backgrounds, yet meeting the right ones in a natural way is hard.
- Most social platforms keep people scrolling and messaging and rarely get them to meet in person.
- Hosts of a meetup needed control over who joins.
What we built
- An explore map that shows activities planned nearby, with filters and a list view.
- A create flow with a banner, name, description, location pin and participant limit.
- Join requests the creator reviews and approves, with ownership transfer and editing for each Orbit.
- Direct and group chats for every activity, plus verified profiles.
