The project
BudsMe is a social app for spontaneous conversations. Users call a random person, or narrow the pool with filters such as gender, and can follow up by message. Messages arrive as requests the other person accepts or declines, so contact stays controlled. Sign-up includes face identification, which is checked and not stored. Free users can send one message every 24 hours; premium members, paying through Stripe, message without limits. Referring five friends earns a free month of premium. An admin panel manages users, premium status and referrals. We built the iOS and Android apps in Flutter, with React, Node.js and MySQL.
The challenge
- Meeting new people on social apps often depends on followers and polished profiles rather than real conversation.
- Open messaging invites unwanted contact.
- The app needed a revenue model that still gave free users a reason to stay.
What we built
- Random calling with demographic filters.
- Message requests that the receiver accepts or declines.
- Face identification at sign-up, with the image not stored.
- Stripe-powered premium subscriptions and a referral reward.
- An admin panel for users, premium tiers and referrals.
