The project
QuickAuth is a two-factor authentication manager for individuals, teams and organisations. It generates time-based one-time passwords (TOTP) for each saved account and keeps them in one place, so codes are not tied to a single phone. Codes are available in the web app, through a browser extension and in the Android app. Teams share tokens with their members, set who can edit or share each one, and review activity logs of how tokens are used. We built the web platform with Next.js and MySQL.
The challenge
- Mobile-only authenticator apps tie every code to one person's phone, which breaks down when a team shares an account.
- Sharing 2FA codes over chat or screenshots leaves no control over who has access.
- Organisations had no record of who used which code and when.
What we built
- A web app and browser extension that generate TOTP codes for every saved account.
- Teams with invited members and shared tokens.
- Role-based permissions for editing and sharing each token.
- Activity logs and an audit view for each team.
